“AWAKE – Awareness For Kids on Environment”

This project, which began in 2024, is based on organizing awareness-raising days on waste management and water preservation, in the Solu Khumbu valleys schools.

For two weeks, the association ran training sessions with local population. Simple teaching material were developed and used to support the training sessions.

The training program was organized in 2 parts:

  • Theoretical input on the lifespan of waste and its negative impact on the environment.
  • Practical part with waste collection around the schools, followed by sorting of materials (540 kg collected in total, 60% of which was plastic).

Thanks to the active support of the municipality and the invaluable help of local managers and teams, the seven days of training were a resounding success, with 850 pupils from 16 schools involved.

These training courses will be followed by environmental projects run by SoluCham in conjunction with local municipalities, such as the installation of sorting garbage cans, plastic recycling with injection molding machines, and reforestation with species that take global warming into account.
