The Africa Smile Association is responsible for 5 orphans in the municipality of Yoto Kopé, who attend the rural public school of Yoto Kopé, EPP Mangotigomé. However, the school’s dilapidated state does not promote effective learning for all the students.
The school hosts 129 students across three levels: CP (Cours Préparatoire), CE (Cours Élémentaire), and CM (Cours Moyen), under difficult conditions.
The classrooms, built by the parents, are open to the outside with only metal sheets as roofs. One of the classrooms even has a thatched roof. Weather conditions negatively affect learning, as the classes flood when it rains. Wooden barriers surround part of the classrooms, but they are in poor condition. Most of them are either falling down or broken, which does little to improve the learning environment.
The goal of the project is to build 2 to 3 solid classrooms, fully enclosed and separated from one another, ensuring the children of the village have a proper learning environment.
The first classroom was constructed in 2024, and a second one will be completed in 2025.
